Ladyfinger + Leaf Stamping: Easy Process Art for Preschoolers

Introduction

Art doesn’t need to be perfect—just joyful! This simple stamping activity using ladyfinger (bhindi) and leaves is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. It’s mess-free, colorful, and boosts creativity. Bonus? Nature is your art tool!

Materials Needed

  • 1 ladyfinger (cut in half)
  • Leaves of different shapes
  • Paints (we used yellow, red, green, blue, orange)
  • A4 white sheet
  • Paintbrush or sponge
  • Apron or old t-shirt (optional)

Steps to Create the Art

  1. Start with the center:
Dip the cut side of the ladyfinger in red or brown paint and press it in the center. This becomes the flower’s middle.
  2. Prepare the leaves:
Apply mixed paints (like orange + yellow + red) on one side of the leaf using a brush or sponge.
  3. Stamp around the ladyfinger print:
Press the painted side of the leaf around the center to form petals.
  4. Add more patterns:
Let your child explore with leaf angles, color mixing, and layering.
  5. Dry and admire!
    You’ve just created a beautiful nature-inspired flower!
